Getting around the Treasure Valley: run the real route before making the lifestyle decision.
The Valley is spread out. A map can make two places look close while the trip between them depends heavily on time of day, crossings, freeway access, construction, and whether transit is useful for your route.
Transit is a tool, not an assumption
Valley Regional Transit operates the regional bus system, publishing routes, live information, trip planning, and service alerts. Its major transfer locations include downtown Boise’s Main Street Station, Caldwell’s Happy Day Transit Center, and Boise Towne Square Mall.
The useful question is whether the route and schedule serve your home, work, school, airport, or appointment. Use the official trip planner before treating transit as part of the plan.
Airport access deserves its own test
Boise Airport sits south of downtown. It is close to some parts of Boise and a different drive from the western end of the Valley. VRT publishes current airport service; verify timing with the official airport and VRT tools rather than relying on an old roundup.
Source note: transit, stations, park-and-ride, and airport-service references were checked against Valley Regional Transit. Road conditions link to Idaho Transportation Department’s 511 service.
